The days were very busy but the students did great. On Monday night, Ralph and Ranen and I went to a Thai Restaurant and had Prawns, Satay, Vegetable and Salted Fish, Fish cakes and curry over a flame.
It was very delicious. We also sampled various cakes for dessert.
This was a real coconut and you drank the light milk and then could eat the coconut meat. |
This side of the restaurant was Thai, the other side was Vietnamese. |
Bean cakes |
On the same street we found a shop selling Chinese herbs. |
Tuesday morning, I had to get up at 5:00 am to be part of a
MACTE meeting on Skype. The other members were all nicely
settled in at 5:00 in the afternoon! That meeting lasted until 6:25
and Mom called on Skype at 6:30. She is getting very good at it and is
right on time. We talked awhile and then I was off to school
at 8:00. It was a busy last day with many lessons, and pictures.
Ralph made some delicious bar-be-qued pork for our lunch.
We knew we would be going out to celebrate after class so were
getting all last details ready.
At 5:00, the sky turned black and it started pouring and blowing.
The storms come up very quickly here. Maybe part of Tropical
Storm Saola. We stayed a little longer to try to wait out the storm.
Then we went to Jade Garden, a beautiful restaurant, to have our farewell dinner.
Peking Duck with cucumber to be rolled in pancakes in background. |
Little did they know what a rowdy group we would turn into. |
Bean sprouts and beans |
Chicken |
Wonderful coconut flavored "fish" for dessert |
The whole class making a scene as we took pictures, gave hugs, and generally made a lot of commotion. It was a fun party! They are great! Didn't get home until 9:30 and did some more packing. |
